It’s Official

The Octogenarian and her son have agreed to discount the property to cover the costs of repairs to the house and proceed with the sale!

We gave the owner lots of extra time to pack, sort, and have an estate sale.

No pressure.

I can’t imagine having lived there so long and then having to leave it all behind.Β  I think when it is our turn to leave that it will be heartbreaking to let it all go.

In early June we will pay for the property, and in return we will receive the keys, and deed to the Mountain Farmlet!

House deed

So while we wait, there is lots to do.

Sorting, packing, selling, giving away, and condensing down all the stuff of our lives.Β  It is a small house.Β  As well, there are painting, patching, and some major repairs that will all have to be done before we move in.

It will be hard work,

and it will all be worth it too!

Bon courage for all the sorting and packing and grieving for the old place, and good luck in the new.

We have all that before us – our lovely house and land (all 2000 sq metres of it) are getting too much for us – Jock will be 80 in November and I’m not far behind – so the house is for sale and I keep having to tidy up for visitors. Not that there have been many of those yet, the market is flat and near invisible!

Viv, describing your move is exactly what I am talking about. Moving there now is totally exciting. We are looking forward to our retirement years there, but when we have to leave the now new Farmlet it will be no less painful for us then, than it is for you or for the Mrs. who is currently living there on the Mountain Farmlet.

HOWEVER, no matter how sad it may be, we must certainly be grateful for the time we had, and times we experienced!

    How wonderful, Lynda.
I’m so pleased for you all – well the whole menagerie of course. I assume all the farmlet are moving with you.

    • Lynda says:

Thank you, Victoria! Yes, the menagerie will be in tow. They are the reason we are moving off our little acre and onto 23 acres. πŸ˜‰

I shouldn’t imagine that we will run out of room now!

Congratulations! Have a great time planning. A new house even if it’s not “new” is such fun. Keep us informed.

    • Lynda says:

Sheila, thank you! When we were first married we often dreamed of living in a place like this. It was one of those pipe dreams, you know, pie in the sky never gonna happen musings. We never imagined it could be real, and yet, it is!

This news is very exciting Lynda!! Of course, having just been to visit you and us talking about this very scenario of what you’ll have to do to prepare for a move, makes me want to hop the first plane to help you get organized and have a yard sale!!! Darn it… I wish it was that easy!

    • Lynda says:

      SO DO I LORI ~ !!!
I could use your camera skills to photograph all the stuff I’m selling in my ETSY storefront. There will be many little vintage items posted for sale there. I guess this is the nudge I needed to get me started? LOL!

You see? All of my fussing about was for nothing – from now on, maybe you should make me your designated worrier! Despite all the “necessities” involved in such a move, I suspect your excitement will make it more than bearable. I’m just so happy for you, and eager to keep up with all the activities.

    • Lynda says:

You are hired. I need a professional worrier right now, so thanks for volunteering! (I’ll email you. 😦 )

We have a plan! We are going to go through the farm house, after all the major repairs are done by the professionals, and room by room we will patch, paint, and fix what we deem needs fixing. Then as we finish each room we will load up the truck and move that room’s furnishings in. I have so many ideas in my mind about what to take and what to sell, but in the end, it depends on what will fit into the tiny little rooms. πŸ˜‰

Annie, we got rid of so much before we left California. Then I got rid of just as much again two years ago… now I have to do it a third time. The little house, depending on which realtor’s spotlight you read, is between 980 and 1050 square feet of living space! So now only the really good stuff follows us to the new place.

Here I am Lynda for a litthe ” hello”. It seems that you finally found your farmlet.. I am so happy for you but you must have so much do do..
bon courage to you. I am going to read the latest post.

So how about that? Go on; say something!
