Friday Fictioneers: for immediate release

Once again I have been bitten by the 100 word flash fiction bug and Rochelle’s picture prompt for the Friday Fictioneers entry on August 3rd.    It gets a little bit easier each time I try!  Thanks, Rochelle!

A special “Thank you” to Jennifer Pendergast for the use of her photograph!

The bees, having become tired of the chemical assault that was destroying their colonies, began in secret to produce a Super Queen.

*MEMO

As you are aware, work  on the Eximius Reginam (ER-1) prototype has been a success.   The ER-1 has been found impervious to any chemical assault known to man.   Working in secret she has produced an army of warrior class bees capable of being sprayed and still functioning.   The warriors are trained eaters of the agricultural machinery that have been poisoning earth and killing our working class bees worldwide…

The bees are finding it hard to sleep tonight.

      Thank you, Lori!

I’m trying to wake *it up! This little weekly exercise seems to be helping, or at the very least it seems to be getting easier to perform in only 100 words.

      *(my imagination)

Yeah, they tried engineering the Killer-Bees, but it was giving all bee forms a bad name, so they decided attacking the machinery was a better, earth-kind solution. 😉

    • Lynda says:

Yes! Sting them in their corporate pocketbooks! If little tractors cost as much as a new car, then imagine the cost of the behemoths they’re driving! 😉

You know, I’d forgotten “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”! (Have you see it? Hilarious. I was still in junior high, I think, and that was about the level of horror I could cope with.)

Love your story – but on a serious note, did you hear the news about the bee attacks in Texas? They’ve been pretty serious – two horses and a dog have been killed and some people badly bitten up.

Say – you haven’t put copies of your script out there, have you? 😉

    • Lynda says:

Linda, I did not hear about this news! As for the memo it went out “For immediate release” in the Apis News. I had nothing to do with it! Bee-sides, these bees only attack and destroy the farm equipment responsible for poisoning our earth. They do not attack other life forms!

As I told Ms. Brown, “…they tried engineering the Killer-Bees, but it was giving all bee forms a bad name, so they decided attacking the machinery was a better, earth-kind solution.”

Brilliant take on the prompt. I adore those B-movies, especially the long moralising speech at the end. There was one with Efram Zimbalist Jr who had to sacrifice himself to killer bees by donning a suit soaked in something that attracted/killed the bees and going into a room with the bees. I wondered why they didn’t just put the suit on a dummy and send the dummy in! Ann

So how about that? Go on; say something!
