Forgotten

My entry for Friday Fictioneers,  July 10, 2015, is quite tardy this time!  Usually I am early…  Ah well, next time, eh?

Thank you Rochelle for your time and efforts each week to keep our creativity sparked!

Forgotten

~Sunrise~

Julia never hesitated when the call went out for new volunteers. She grabbed her gear and headed up. The light was intense. She walked a bit, let her eyes adjust, then walked a bit further. It was a painful process.

~Midday~

The volunteers gathered to discuss their findings and what they knew of the surface history.  All records indicated their elders ruined it. Their summation? They would likely do it again.

They voted unanimously not to return.

~Evening~

Speculation that night was that they’d been incinerated, poisoned or eaten. They would never know for sure.

The elders voted to reseal the tunnel.

It is a different view; isn’t it, Lori? I keep wondering where this tunnel is. Surely it must be more fun and interesting in real life. Don’t you think so?

I like this – the youngsters deciding to remake the world the way they want it. Being late on parade shouldn’t be a problem and I make a point of hitting the bottom of the list a few times, though I fear many of the FF gang only read the top ones!

Liz, I can’t ever find the time to read everyone’s entries, so I too switch it up. Sometimes I even start in the middle! Glad you liked my little tale.

Lynda, so good to visit and see you are still at it with Friday Fiction. I can always count on you to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up a bit.
Hope you and Bob are doing okay!

We are well, and dog-paddling at the moment. Glad you like my hair-raising stories. I seem to be wallowing in the macabre lately. (BTW, today’s offering was a bit of the “Bad Seed” vintage, but I chickened out and lightened it up. Bok-bok-bok…) ~:>

So how about that? Go on; say something!
