Pixilated is…

60 as of this update. (5/3/13)  Where did the time go?

Still unabashedly devoted and in love with her husband.

An, apparently, retired school teacher… though this could change.

A latent farm girl who has much to learn.

Transplanted from California to Alabama, but has lived in the south before.

An ex-Military girl who was stationed in NAS Pensacola.

A proud owner of her dogs Buddy and Tucker.

Having a blast raising her chickens, and geese and guinea hens. (Oh my!)

Going to have to get a cat to kill the mousie who came to live in the shed because of the chicken’s feed (YIKES). (Did this!)

A gardening enthusiast,  who has suddenly found gardening to be hard!  (Much to do and lots to learn)  I think I’m getting the hang of it!  :)

An avid book collector and reader of same.

Likes to hike, bike, and explore new places.

Finding her way back to the Godly life and learning to trust Him for all her needs.

Feeling blessed that He has provided me with all of the above.

AMEN

  1. not to spy on you but would you tell me where in North Alabama you are? I am from Alabama and now live in Georgia. I have relatives all over Alabama though. nearest town would be okay if you’d rather not say.

  2. I enjoyed your list of things “Pixilated is…”

    • Betsy, I love North Alabama. My husband and I feel most fortunate to have found this little enclave in farm country. We don’t have a lot, but we have what we need and feel blessed for it! ~ L

  8. Hello Lynda! I just wanted to stop by and present you with this most deserving blog award, The Very Inspiring Blog award! You are very much deserving of it and I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy visiting your blog. I think that your moving from California to a farm in Alabama is very inspiring, love it! Feel free to accept this award or just relish in the fact that I think your blog is great and you, very inspiring :) I have just published a post about it on my blog where you can find out more about it.

  9. Great to learn about you. We have more than mice in common – lol
    Have a great Sunday!

  10. Lynda, first of all … thanks again for letting me know that my gravatar needed a link to the blog! Done!
I was going to say that I am now following your blog (and actually found it because of similar interests) and in reading the comments above, see that there are other women who told you the same thing.
Reading, exploring, ex-military … the farming and gardening are mere dreams for me, so I’m excited to be learning more about your experiences!!

    • Thank you, LB! I have to say that your bravery in riding a motorcycle everywhere is amazing to me. You go so many places and see so many beautiful things! Living here on the Farmlet with the garden to tend and animals who rely on me, keeps me from traveling these days. It is a trade off, but an equitable one. In the meantime we can share and trade experiences and that will be a blast!

  11. Wonderful bio.You sound like a lovely person.

  12. It’s pleasure to meet you. I certainly will enjoy exploring.

  13. Hi, after you dropped by Chiconia, I took a look at the Farmlet. You’re right, we do have a lot in common! Quilting, Gardening, and yes, Gluten Free cooking. And you’re very funny, and you love chickens, and, and…. So I’ve started following you too. One question: where are all your quilting photos? Looking forward to the next instalment.

    • Hello, Kate! Yes, I had forgotten to mention that we had the GF cooking in common.

I am new to quilting (only one year) and, ashamedly, I have given much of what I have done away, and without ever getting pictures! Is that insane? I think so. I am putting together a post for my latest creation. It will post tomorrow for the Black Tie Boogie blog-hop. It is only a small machine pieced hand quilted item, but I tried my best to make it as perfect as I could. Maybe I need to make a page to post my pictures of my quilts, and perhaps if I have a place to store them, then I’ll get better about taking the pictures… Yes? ;)

      • Hi Lynda, I think it would help to take photos. Over time, your quilts become your children, and you find you want to keep a record of what you’ve created. I haven’t posted pictures of every quilt I’ve made, I have those on my computer, but I did put up the ones I love best, that have most meaning. Maybe it’s time for a few more? Kate

        • Even so! Like I said, it has only been a year, but I can remember every detail of all that I have made. I think my very first quilt is on my FB page, I will have to root around for it so I can include it too.

  14. Lynda, Charles found your blog and I thank him, I do want you to know that I love you very much, and Lynda I do miss you Love Alison PS hope to see you again maybe this summer.
